施閔雄博士是中央研究院應用科學研究中心(RCAS)的研究員。他的研究興趣集中在光子晶體雷射、二維材料光源元件和表面電漿子元件,並致力於推動該領域的知識和創新。他在南加州大學(USC)電機工程系取得博士學位,並為數個跨領域的研究項目做出了貢獻。
自加入RCAS以來,施閔雄博士的團隊開發了用於矽和III-V半導體元件的奈米製造技術,包括電子束微影、聚焦離子束系統和等離子乾蝕刻系統。利用這些技術,團隊設計並開發了基於III-V半導體量子點、量子井和二維材料的光子晶體微型共振腔雷射和奈米表面電漿子光源元件,實現了從紫外線到紅外線波長範圍的不同功能性光源。最近,施閔雄博士的團隊主要研究並優化了二維半導體與金屬電極之間的界面特性,並實現了電注入驅動的二維半導體LED和共振腔雷射。此方向的研究成果預期將推動二維半導體材料未來應用於發光元件及積體光路系統的可能性。
施閔雄博士的實驗室與國立陽明交通大學(NYCU)、國立中山大學(NSYSU)和國立台灣海洋大學(NTOU)等學校的研究群進行了在微型共振腔雷射、二維半導體材料發光元件及超穎介面元件等領域的合作研究。為了回饋學術社群,施閔雄博士擔任了Nature Photonics、Applied Physics Letters、Optics Express、Advanced Materials、Small、Nanoscale、IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics等期刊的審稿人。他還曾擔任過以下會議的組織委員會主席:Optics & Photonics Taiwan, the International Conference (OPTIC) 2024, the 8th International Conference on Surface Plasmon Photonics (SPP8) 2017,以及 the 9th International Conference on Nanophotonics (ICNP) 2016。
施閔雄博士未來的研究將致力於透過結合先進低維度奈米材料和新型光學奈米結構來開發緊湊、具不同功能性的光子元件。他的團隊也將著重於解決實現適用於不同應用的實用且功能性的光子源和光發射器的關鍵問題。施閔雄博士致力於將學術發現轉化為現實世界的應用,確保對學術界和社會產生持久的影響。
